 Our Revolution Begins in IT

            Information technology Department consists of 12 well qualified faculties working under the guidance and support of Head of the department Prof. Paul Antony. The department consists of a well equipped library in which 300 IT related books, 150 project reports and 150 seminar reports are available for the students to refer. The department has fully equipped with labs such as DBMS LAB, Programming LAB, Microprocessor and Data Communication LAB, which has full facilities required for the students for experiment and project work. 8 staff members are undergoing Mtech studies and one staff is doing PhD, and we shall apply for accreditation when they rejoin the college

            2005 - 2009 IT batch was one of the best in MG university by Miss. Priya Joseph won the first rank. 2008 - 2012 and 2006 - 2010 batches were the best batch in their 3^rd and 7^th semester university results among the different engineering colleges of MG University. 35 students of the final year IT batch are placed in leading IT companies like TCS, Infosys and CMS etc.

            Our first news letter launched on October 2009 by Dr. Cyriac Thomas, Chairman and Dean of VJCET. During the occasion, Mr. Siby S.P, Channel relationship manager of Nortel Networks become the chief guest. He presented a detailed technical talk on 'networking' during the occasion. The Information Technology association inauguration was held on 16^th march 2010. Mrs Chanra Vadana R, Head of HCL career development centre Cochin inaugurated the activities of IT association (ORBIT), followed by an expert talk on 'IT skills'. As a part of association activity we conducted a technical talk on 'MS office 2010' by HCL carrier development centre Cochin on 19^th march 2010.

            Now there are 243 students studying in Information Technology department. IT students are actively participated in arts and sports festivals Intra College and inter college competitions and have won many prizes at this year. Anand Xavier of s6 IT has got first prize for short film presentations in different technical fest conducted by CET, Trivandrum, Ilahia college of Engineering and technology and Amal Jyothi college of Engineering and technology. He got A grade for the same in NIT trichy. Ajay Basil Vargheese and Chandhni K of S8 IT won the best actor and actress award in Drishya 2010. Miss Chandhni.K of S8 IT was awarded first prize in the IEEE sponsored seminar competition held at VJCET. Miss Chinju Tony of S8 IT won the first prize in VJC idol competition in Drishya 2010. Recently,Ms. Chandhini K of S8 IT was selected as the best outgoing student of 2006-2010 batch.
