          Through Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) one can search for a book by either the name of the author, or subject or any word in a title or accession number of a book, or name of the publisher. The search results reveal the availability of the document, status, no. of copies etc. The search will lead to the exhaustive as well as pinpointed search on any topic. The users can locate the call number and get the book from the shelf.

CIRCULATION

  Bar Code Based Issue, Return

           The-state-of-art VJCET Library follows barcode based issue, return process. Bar-coding facilities are important for easy and foolproof issue, return and stock verification of library documents. For barcode issue, return process all the library documents are bar coded on the basis of its accession number. In this system Library member requiring to borrow a book, presents his identity card, which is user’s bar coded number, and the document to be borrowed, to the circulation counter. To issue that, staff at counter just scans the borrower’s bar coded number through scanner and gets displayed his borrowing status on computer screen. After being assured from user’s record, we scan the bar code of item to be issued. Thus the item gets issued and added to the loan account of particular member. The computer will present due date for return automatically. We can monitor entire process on computer’s screen. The document issued will retain its link with the borrower’s number until that is returned and scanned.

At the same time Browne system  of circulation is manually maintained.
